Meet the team that founded Thruball

Thruball

Our Story

Thruball (EST 2022) was created by Calder Billings (VT), Jackson Callahan (NH), and John Wadlinger (NH). The three share a love of sports, competition and have always dreamt of starting a business together. It was during their years as roommates in Boston, playing countless hours of lawn games after long work days or on sunny Saturday afternoons, that the trio had a realization. They craved a new, innovative, and fun game that would bring people of all ages together. Driven by their shared passions and fueled by their dream of creating the ultimate outdoor gaming experience, Thruball was founded. Together, they embarked on a mission to revolutionize the lawn game industry, transforming leisure time into an opportunity for exciting, friendly competition and lasting memories for all Thruball players to enjoy. Thank you for being a part of our journey!

Meet The Founders

Calder Billings

Calder grew up in Woodstock, VT where his passion for sports and lawn games was sparked by spending hours engaging in friendly competition with his two brothers. Calder played several sports at Eaglebrook School in MA (grades 7-9) and later served as the captain of the varsity lacrosse and soccer teams at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, NH. He went on to graduate with a business degree from The University of Vermont, where he proudly represented the renowned Division 1 lacrosse program. After college, Calder's entrepreneurial spirit led him to Boston, MA where he has since established a successful real estate career. After work, Calder can be found on the tennis courts in South Boston or more recently, at the beach (likely covered in sand from head to toe) playing Thruball.

Jackson Callahan

Jackson grew up in Wolfeboro, NH. He was a member of several teams including lacrosse, basketball & soccer. Jackson also attended Brewster Academy for high school where he was the captain of the varsity lacrosse team. He looks back fondly on his years at Brewster which prepared him for college at High Point University in North Carolina where he received a degree in Electronic Media Communications and Marketing. Jackson currently works as a Producer at an advertising agency in Boston, MA. He has a passion for video production which has been an invaluable asset to the Thruball team. He enjoys golfing, skiing, hiking, and playing outdoor games.

John Wadlinger

John grew up in Wolfeboro, NH with his parents and six siblings. He has always had a passion for sports and as you can imagine, being one of seven allowed for readily available teammates (and competitors) throughout his childhood. He played on several youth basketball, lacrosse, and football teams growing up and then attended Brewster Academy where he played varsity lacrosse for 3 years. He went on to play lacrosse in college at Saint Michael’s College in Vermont. After graduating with a business degree, he moved to Boston where he currently resides and enjoys working as a software consultant. In his spare time you can find him at the golf course struggling to lower his handicap or snowboarding at whichever mountain got the most snow the day before.
